dangurewitch asked: Your latest post reminds me of a post I wrote last year. Tumblr won't let me link it; it was titled "Improv Nerds Only." The central idea: in discussing improv, we might be well-served to cut down on terminology & increase use of the word/concept "fun." I still stand by it - my problem with all of the interchangeable terms/concepts is that it creates a tendency toward mathematical improv; people trying to fill in blanks, but forgetting to follow their gut humor instincts. Am I full of shit?
I don’t think you’re full of shit but it makes me laugh that you ended this question with that. I remember your improv nerd post. I sympathize but disagree or at least have a different reaction. Meaning, I agree there’s too many rules and semantics and we should ultimately be guided by our inner sense of fun more often. BUT: I still think a small pouch of the correct mantras and be good. And I’m going to spend THE REST OF MY LIFE figuring out what those mantras are. Happy Thanksgiving Dan Gurewitch!
