Anonymous asked: There's an interview clip with Noah Gregoropoulos where he describes improv being culturally specific to its locations; New York being brash and fast, Los Angeles being a character showcase, etc. Do you agree, and is there an inherent difficulty in being a patient but slow player?

Ooh, I’d love to hear that interview! Generalizations like that are fun but ultimately pointless. I mean, I do them too. There’s a germ of truth there but there’s room in every city mentioned to do whatever kind of improv you want to do. I saw Bullet Lounge at iO do a brash, fast (great) set, and I saw Sentimental Lady from LA do a monoscene that would make TJ and Dave fans applaud. And one hour ago in good old NYC I did a set in which a ship at sea used sound-and-movement to turn into an ameoba that contained in it a house and, oh, I don’t know. Who knows? Can’t you often trade “Annoyance” and “NY” pretty easily when someone uses either one to describe a type of improv? No? Okay.

Re: being a patient player. There’s difficulty in doing anything well. I can’t believe it ever works. Good night!
